Writing Is Hard…

I don’t necessarily think its the act of writing that is difficult, I mean you just pick up a pen and start (or your keyboard in my case). The problem seems to be that there is major resistance to this part of things. I know its just fear causing uncertainty, procrastination and other such things as the defenses my brain shove in my path are easily countered.

I don’t really expect to be the next Hemingway and my poor spelling can be easily countered with good proofing and spell check. I have a dozen tools to make writing easier Scrivener, ByWord, TextMate and of course the use of Markdown a handful of scripts, text expanders and of course about a half a dozen tools not even mentioned in this article. Heck to list out all my tools could be an article in itself (goes and adds that to the list of article ideas). I have the tools… I am prepared… Its just now a matter of “putting the pen to the paper” as they say.

Of course my lizard brain wants me to get caught up in tweaking the websites, coding plug ins and cool stuff but I know… that… this… is just the damn resistance. Hiding behind something I know I am good at or at least comfortable enough to work on and my lizard brain is not only delaying me from writing but delaying me from completing the websites. One… More… Tweak…

So why this interest in writing? Well I will tell you. I started 2 new projects. The first is a revamp of my personal home page and the second is a new project designed to highlight cool tools, websites, apps and in some cases review them. Since this is a smaller project that I wish to grow organically I have not hired/assigned/gotten off the streets any writers for the project. Which forces me gasp to be the writer. Of course I can sit there all day in my head thinking of articles to write and what I want to say. The hard part seems to be the first word. But once that gets written it starts to flow, and then soon it starts to look like a real article… Heck this one is gonna hit 400 words soon. This is a fairly good accomplishment for me and for me its a start to a few projects that I have no idea where they will lead me. But the part of this that I love “in theory” is that it does not matter where it goes. The goal was to write more and become better at putting my thoughts down. It all begins with a single word…

Once I seed the first few articles I will reveal the link to the new project in my social networks and such.
